The Gospel According to St. Luke 16. 19-31. "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man's table; even the dogs would come and lick his sores. The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried.” The Gospel of the Lord, Thanks be to God.
Generous God, You give us abundant gifts both spiritual and physical. Help us grasp the
everlasting things of your kingdom, so that our words, actions, and very selves may be our offerings to you through Christ, who invites everyone to seek the things above.
Make us worthy, LORD, to serve our brothers and sisters, who live in poverty and die alone. May we always recognize and respond to the needs of others. Amen
